Udriin Sonin
Udriin sonin is the most widely read newspaper with [a daily circulation of 10000 copies per issue (as of 2015)](http://www.pressinst.org.mn/) The Media freedom law adopted in August 1998 prohibited state ownership of media. Consequently, the then state run daily newspaper “Ardyn Erkh” was dismantled and its editorial staff launched an independent newspaper “Ardyn Undesnii Erkh”. The newspaper changed its title several times due to conflicts with the Parliament’s resolution that prohibited using the title of formerly state run newspapers for 5 years after dismantling. The newspaper, apart from its initial title, also appeared with titles such as “Undesnii erkh” and “Udriin toli”, until on March 10, 1999 it renamed itself Udriin sonin. The editor-in-chef and founder of the newspaper, J.Myagmarsuren is a writer. Officially he does not hold any political positions but is commonly considered to be a close supporter of the Democratic Party. In 2000 the Democratic Party nominated him to compete in the Parliamentary elections in the Tuv province constituency. The content of the newspaper and its editorial policy may be closely aligned with the Democratic Party. Udriin sonin has the motto “In Mongolia only Udriin sonin can tell the truth”. The newspaper has an own printing house. It is published 6 times a week, with 16-24 pages in broadsheet format. It also has an online version that can be subscribed to. The newspapers website is www.dnn.mn. Udriin sonin is owned by Udriin medee LLC. The founder of the company is the editor-in-chef J. Myagmarsuren. The company did not provide information on advertisement revenues.

The company expressed that it will not participate in the survey on an inquiry phone call made after a week of handing out the survey questionnaire. Afterwards, the company submitted a letter stating that it will not participate. The newspaper also published an article criticizing the MOM project.
